About Little Scholars Playground

Our story

Little Scholars Playground began with a love of STEM and a desire to introduce children to the exciting possibilities within science, technology, engineering and maths from an early age. We initially focused on creating educational books and resources that helped children discover STEM through play and everyday learning. As Little Scholars grew, so did our mission.

Today, our focus goes beyond products. We bring STEM and STEAM directly to children through hands-on after-school clubs, school workshops, science parties and community programmes. From building circuits and experimenting with chemical reactions to combining art and technology, our activities are designed to show children that STEM isn’t simply something they learn in the classroom, it’s something they can explore, create and have fun with.

We particularly want children who may be underrepresented in STEM to see that these subjects and future careers are for them too.

Natalie

Co-founder

Natalie has a background in UX/UI design, brand design and marketing, bringing creativity and communication into the way children experience STEM and STEAM. With a Master’s degree in Web Design, she leads the development and delivery of Little Scholars Playground’s hands-on STEM/STEAM clubs and workshops.

As a designer and illustrator, Natalie has also illustrated all of Little Scholars Playground’s books and educational resources, combining her creative skills with a passion for learning.

She is particularly passionate about making STEM engaging and accessible, helping children build confidence and see that science, technology, engineering and maths can be creative, exciting and for everyone.

Denhue

Co-founder

Denhue brings a strong engineering and aviation background to the business. With a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a career in the aviation industry, Denhue brings real-world STEM knowledge and experience to Little Scholars Playground, helping us connect the subjects children explore through our activities with the careers and possibilities they can lead to.

He has also played an important role in developing Little Scholars Playground’s educational resources, including writing our STEM books and helping shape the ideas and learning behind our activities.

As both an engineer and a dad, Denhue is passionate about encouraging children to stay curious, understand how things work and discover the many different paths that STEM can open up.

Our mission and values

At Little Scholars Playground, we believe curiosity should be encouraged. Through hands-on experiments, challenges and creative activities, we help children explore science, technology, engineering, art and maths beyond the classroom. Helping to build confidence, curiosity and a love of learning along the way for primary school aged children.

Denhue and Natalie have a combined 20 years’ experience working in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) industry. Denhue has a Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and Natalie has a Master’s degree in web design and content planning. We want to encourage parents to embrace STEM for their children early on. An industry which creates the inventors, innovators and leaders of tomorrow. Learning STEM doesn’t have to break the bank, therefore we also want to ensure our products are accessible to all.
